How to improve your Pc performance?

So many people will be facing the performance problems in their computers. There are some tips to boost up your pc performance.
  1. All the time somany files will be getting accumulated in your system. So defragment your Hard disk at least a week to place all these files a systematic order. By doing this we can boost up the performance of pc.
  2. Turn OFF the search index in windows operating system.
  3. If the RAM is not sufficient add additional RAM to your Pc.
  4. Limit the start up processes on your Pc. This will speed up the Booting performance of your computer.
  5. Clean up your Hard disk regularly to maintain good performance of your Pc.
  6. Uninstall unnecessary and unwanted applications from your Pc.
  7. Clean up the temporary files, cookies, cache etc. to maintain performance of your Pc.
  8. To maintain good life of the Laptop's battery use battery power only when fully charged. At present almost all laptops are being able to use only AC power when the battery is fully charged and is still connected to the power supply.
  9. Completely discharge the battery when you won't be using your laptop for a long period. This will give your battery a good battery.
  10. Use only original batteries even if the cost is quite higher than that of the local or duplicates. This will ensure your Pc to run good. At present somany companies are giving warranty of one to two years on purchase of the original batteries.
  11. Use good anti virus programs and avoid using pirated copies of Antivirus editions as they are easy to get affected by the viruses since the pirated editions will open some security holes inorder to produce pirated editions. I think you will be able to afford a little money to protect your PC as it costs more than an Antivirus program.
  12. You can boost up the speed of your pc even without adding additional RAM upto some extent. This can be using the virtual memry from your Hard disk itself.
  13. Use a cooling Pad for your laptop to keep your laptops temperature normal.
  14. Use TUNE UP UTILITIES application to boost up the Pc performance to a great extent. This application is free of cost.
  15. Don't use two Antivirus programs on a single operating system as this will affect the performance of the Pc to a great extent. This is because both programs will detect one another as a virus.
  16. Update your Antivirus progarm once in week or daily if possible to ensure the protection.
  17. Update your Windows operating system to ensure your Pc performance and also protection. Updates will be released every Tuesday.
  18. Disable the gadgets on your Windows 7 operating system to ensure good performance of Pc.
  19. Use the computers having INTEL CORE I-3 4010 U processor to ensure good power saving on your computer. This is Fourth Generation processor from INTEL.
  20. Use the `Check for performance issues' option in the trouble shooting option in the control panel to see how you can improve the performance of your Pc (For windows).
  21. Don't use the High performance option in windows. This will decrease the Battery life drastically.

Best processor for power saving

Yes there is a processor which saves power a lot. It is the fourth generation of intel processors. You can find it as Intel i3 - 4010 U.

Use windows programs in Ubuntu

1) You can install wine using the Ubuntu Software Centre and search for "wine", select the first one and press install. Also you can install PlayOnLinux which is a GUI for helping you install Windows Software into Ubuntu Linux.
alt text
2) Usually there are no pre-downloaded files in Linux world because you also have to find and download all the dependencies!!! That is why it is better to install programs through Software Centre that will deal with any dependencies.

Dual booting ubuntu along with windows7

To install Ubuntu you must get some tools. That is download Universal USB installer from internet. Also you will be needing to download the Ubuntu iso file from the Linux official website. Then use the Universal USB installer to load the ISO file into a pen drive by following the below images. First you will get the below window on running the Universal USB installer. Here choose the ISO file you have in your computer or the one which you downloaded.

Then after selecting the ISO file which you want to load into the pen drive click create and then you will get the below window.

Then restart your system and enter the BIOS configuration menu by pressing a function key (the function key needed to be pressed varies with the brand). For Sony brand press F2 to enter the BIOS. There change the boot priority to the External drive and save the settings and exit. Then your PC will load Ubuntu. Here you will be asked whether you want to install or test Ubuntu. If you like to install it on your PC click on the install option or else don't.
After that you can follow the below process.

When you boot the LIVE CD/USB for installation, you will get 3 options like the picture below
ubuntu along side windows 7
for your Requirement, you should click on the 3rd option - Do something else.
That will take you to a partition table.
In the partition table you will see 2 partitions. - The 1st one will be c drive which has windows. You will be able to see it as NTFS file system.
  • If both are NTFS,mostly the 1st partition will be C drive.
keeping the size of the 2 partitions different e.g 230 and 270 will help you easily recognize your c drive because there are no labels like c or d there)
Then select that other drive.
Get some free space to install :
Caution : Below steps is for deleting . Deleting a hard disk partition will make all files inaccessible everything in that partition, be sure to take back up if any.
  • Select that drive(other than the WINDOWS c DRIVE) from the partition table and click on DELETE. That partition will be deleted and you will see unallocated space.
Caution : Below steps is for formatting. Formating a hard disk partition will permanently erase everything in that partition.
Now,you can either directly make the complete partition as EXT4 for installing Linux or you can also add a SWAP partition.
It is always recommended to add a SWAP area for better performance but only if your ram is below 8gb
Step 1 : Create a SWAP partition
  1. Select the new unallocated space or free space, click on add.
  2. Assign the space from that partition to SWAP AREA equal to double your ram.(e.g-for 1gb,swap area-2gb)
  3. Select SWAP AREA from the file system drop down menu.
  4. Make sure Beginning is selected in the partition position drop down menu.
  5. Click on add.
enter image description here
Adding root file system
Now, after you have added the SWAP AREA,do this-
  1. Select the remaining "Unallocated space" and click on ADD.
  2. Select Ext4 Journaling file system from the file-system dropdown menu.
  3. Select Primary from the partition type drop-down menu.
  4. Select the mount point as / from the mount-point drop-down menu.
  5. Select beginning from the Position drop-down menu.
  6. Click on add.
crate root file system
After adding the partitions, from the table select the ext4 partition you see and tick in the corresponding check-box(if not already ticked) enter image description here
then Select install. That's now you can use your Ubuntu along with Windows or other. Some of the users of Acer brand PC's are facing problems in installing Ubuntu as Ubuntu is trying to certify the different models in each brand. So please make sure that your model is certified by Ubuntu by checking the Ubuntu's official website .

How to know whether a website is secured or not?

Now a days so many people are facing a lot of security problems while using online banking and get worried about the web site security and are also loosing their money too. In the browsers address bar the web address gets added with http or https. Http means the web site is not securred or it is not a secured connection and https means it is a secured connection. So don't worry about the security of the website and just check whether the site has https or http
